IRCU Appoints the Religious Tourism Committee.
IRCU -Seven Clergies Tourism Committee.
Following the operationalization of the Inter-Religious Tourism Center, a tourism initiative of IRCU, a steering committee, formulated the steer, guide and foresee the implementation of its activities.
This has a representation of all the 7 member organizations, making up IRCU. the committee is chaired by Mgr. JB Kauta, the secretary general Uganda Episcopal Conference, assisted by Co- vice chairs including Bishop Jackson Matovu -chairman Namugongo development committee and Owek. Amb. Alhaji. Prof. Badr D Kateregga – Founding Vice Chancellor Kampala University.
Other members drawn include Rev. Agaba Andrew, Bishop Gidudu Masaba Ambrose representing the Association of Pentecostals and Evangelicals, Pr. Dr. John Kamiiza, from the Seventh-Day Adventist Uganda Union, The most venerable Bhante Budharakite – Founder-Buddhist Center, Rev. Fr. Dr. Nicholas Bayego – Orthodox Church. Fr. Nyombi Richard – Parish Rector of Lourdel parish and in-charge tourism at Mapeera-Nabulagala, Mr. Olinga George, Director external affairs -Bahai Faith
The secretary general emphasized that, the committee was critically selected and endorsed by the IRCU Council of Presidents’ and the Executive board. The department offices are at the IRCU secretariat, headed by Mr. Lazarus Okurut as its Program officer.
